Rayford Crossing - DeMontrond Rally Sept. 6 thru 11th, 2011

Rayford Crossing was the location of our September Rally for DeMontrond.  We had planned to leave on Tuesday and be there early to visit with our friends.  However, there was a drastic change in our plans.
Colealso
On Monday afternoon a fire began north of our subdivision in Cole's Crossing Subdivision on FM 1486.  We could see the smoke and fire from our neighbors second story porch. We had no idea that the fire would be coming our way.   However in about 2 hours we were approached by a Sherrif's car in our drive and told that we needed to evacuate.  We could not believe what we were hearing.   A few minutes after he left my friend Eddie Pugh , also a police officer pulled up to the back of our house and wanted to be sure we were leaving. He said the fire was bad and if it came to the front of our subdivision we would not be able to get out. He insisted that we needed to evacuate.  Much to our dissatisfaction.

We had the motorhome loaded which was a blessing.  I ran in and grabbed pictures and other things that could get quickly.  Crying alot, within 20 minutes at the most, we were on our way to Rayford Crossing. This was the most horrible situation I think we have ever been in and hope it never happens again.  Very scary going off leaving everything behind and just praying that God will take care of everything.
I gave our dogs instructions that if the fire came to go to the pond !!

Wednesday

On Wendesday afternoon we were surprised by a Pirate !!
"Brody "

He is shy at first.
He takes is hat off to be sure PawPaw knows who he is.

He is armed and dangerous ~
PawPaw  really likes his hat,  Brody is not sure about this .  LOL

No smile...  I think he wants his hat back.

                                                       Wednesday Evening

                                                      " Happy Hour "

Our Host Team were standing ready to serve,  Except  George Franklin.  He looks as if he is getting into trouble as usual !!! lol   Probably giving them trouble rather than assistance.

Yes George,  We caught you .... you need to get over there and help Lynn.   LOL

"Oh My !"  Mary is cooking.... She is trying to get ahead so she won't have to get up so early in the      morning.   She is not a morning person , lol  someone said ???  I am not sure who said that.

Once again we caught George playing around.
Now he thinks he can get away flying on a broom.
I tried to tell him it was too early for Halloween.

What a hoot !  Troy always has a funny story.  Now he has Sharon going.  I'm sorry Sharon, I hope you remember your badge next time !!  Buddy is really going to love this picture .

If I only knew what he was saying....
Pat has a job trying to keep him in line.

Our Air Conditioner had frozen up ... Manuel and Lynn are
helping to resolve our air conditioner problem.
It is great having such helpful friends.
Thanks Guys !!

The girls all gather at Janet's .

Oops sorry Giesel...I cut you off.
We have such a great group.

I didn't take many pictures this rally.  My mind was pre- occupied by all the fires that were going
on back at home.
The following pictures were shot on our way back to the house.
Most of them were taken on FM 1774.

We were blessed that the fire did not cross the road into our subdivision.  There were so many acres burned and many who lost their homes.  We thank all our friends for their thoughts and prayers,  God has truly Blessed Us.

We look forward to the next rally.  We will be alot less stressed and more relaxed!!

See you soon ~  Happy Trails !
